

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeannette I. Gallahar, 87, of Jacksonville, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, November 25, 2013, at The Jacksonville Church of Christ with Allen Webster officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 pm until service time. Mrs. Gallahar passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa G. Gray and husband Rodney of Atlanta, Ga., Melinda G Hicks and husband Robert of Jacksonville; granddaughter, Kaitlin Hicks; brother, Rudolph Irwin and wife Nancy; sisters-in-law, Pat Irwin, Martha Irwin, Sarah Irwin, Eva Gibson and Lil Gentry and husband Charlie; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gallahar is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, J.C. Gallahar, Jr.; parents, Olin and Bertie Irwin; brothers, Dausey Irwin, Tom Irwin and Max Irwin.
Mrs. Gallahar was born on September 9, 1926 in Randolph County, Alabama and moved to Jacksonville when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Jacksonville High School and attended Jacksonville State College. She was a secretary at Calhoun County Career Technical Center and Calhoun County Material Center, a room mother for Jacksonville Elementary School for 12 years, a supporter of the Girl Scouts and taught Sunday School at The Jacksonville Church of Christ where she was a member for over 70 years. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and a devoted wife.
