Jessie Grace Carden

Jessie Carden, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 7, 2026, on Dogwood Ct at NHC. She had lived independently at Westminster Apartments until she became ill in September of 2025. Jessie loved her independence.

One of her biggest joys in her life was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was proud of each and everyone of them.

Those left with cherished memories of Jessie are daughter Sherry Butler (Ronald Butler-her “favorite son-in-law") sons James Buddy Carden, and Charles Butch Carden (Kathy). Grandchildren Hilary and Robert Moran, Whitney Butler Womack, Jameson and Holly Carden, Emily and Phil Maples, Beverly and Tommy Orms and Charles Carden II. Great Grandchildren Braeton Moran, Jase Moran, Lincoln Womack, Hudson Carden, Johannah Maples and Thomas Orms. Several nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Aunt Duck”. Special friend Jean Brown.

Later in life Jessie was a member of Hill Crest Baptist Church but had used her God-given talent of playing the piano to play for West Anniston Baptist Church and Wayside Baptist. She could not pass a piano without stopping to play.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Fletcher Carden, daughter-in-law Margaret Carden, parents Ed and Leona Wade, Siblings Calvin Wade, LC Bill Wade, Betty Boots Freeman, Jewell Nelson and Horace John Wade.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 12 – 1 pm in the chapel of Gray Brown with services conducted by Bro. Milton Harris immediately following. Graveside will be for family at Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles Carden II, Jameson Carden, Hudson Carden, Robert Moran, Jase Moran and Phil Maples. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Carden, Thomas Orms and great grandchildren Lincoln Womack and Johannah Maples.

Jessie requested no flowers, if you wish instead make a donation to Enhabit Hospice or Charity of your choice.
