
Funeral services for Josephine Jane Martin Hinds, 97, of Anniston and Sugar Valley, will be 2 pm Monday, September 24, 2012, at Gray Brown-Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1 – 2 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Hinds died Friday in Wadley.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Hurst Hinds Phillips of Wadley, ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hinds is preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Julian Moran Hinds Sr., two sons, Julian Moran Hinds Jr., and Robert Lloyd Hinds Sr., parents, James David Martin and Carrie Emma Williams Martin, five brothers, Charles, Frank, John, David “Rip” and Robert Martin.
Mrs. Hinds was a native of Sugar Valley in Calhoun County. She was a resident of Anniston for 31 years, retired back to Sugar Valley for 37 years and spent the remaining eight years in Wadley. Mrs. Hinds was a member of Oak Bowery Baptist Church where she taught the Ladies’ Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Alexandria High School and retired from the Calhoun County Tax Assessor’s Office
