A memorial service will be held at Edgewood Congregational Methodist Church on Monday, July 17th. Visitation will be from 5-6, with a memorial service at 6 pm. Officiating will be Dr. William Snow and Pastor Richie Thompson.
Judith Ann Thompson (Blankenship) was born on November 25th, 1960 to Bobby and Ann Blankenship. She attended Piedmont High School and received her GED in 1979. She then went on to earn a BSW from Jacksonville State University, with honors, in 1996. She then proceeded to The University of Alabama where she earned an MSW with full honors. Mrs. Thompson had a deep passion for helping children overcome trauma from abuse, helping people to more effectively manage their mental health and she was also passionate about helping veterans who struggled with post-traumatic stress.
She was a follower of Jesus Christ and attended Edgewood Congregational Church for approximately 14 years. She was also active in the Cheaha Emmaus Community. Mrs. Thompson was beloved by her family, as well as the community that she served through her faith and work.
Mrs. Thompson went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 13th.
Mrs. Thompson is preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Ann Blankenship (Burgess), her siblings Bradley, Kim, and Richard.
She is survived by her husband, Barry Thompson, her step-father, James Burgess, her daughters, Dana Daughdrill (Randy), Tara Frontz (Matthew), Lexy, her step-sons, Richie Thompson (Abbie), Ryan Thompson (Christina). She will be deeply missed by her ten grandchildren, who loved their Nana dearly, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
