Ruth will be remembered as a devoted and faithful woman whose life reflected steady love, deep compassion, and unwavering loyalty to those around her. A God-loving woman, she carried her beliefs with quiet strength and found meaningful fellowship as a member of Hope Sunday School at Leatherwood Baptist Church.
Her warmth was unmistakable—she never met a stranger. With an open heart and an open home, Ruth welcomed others in and loved unconditionally, offering comfort, kindness, and encouragement in ways that left a lasting impression.
She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved golfing and sports, and she took special pride in her flower gardening, tending what she loved with the same care she gave to the people in her life.
Above all, Ruth adored her family. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything, faithfully attending their sporting events and cheering them on—her family’s biggest fan in every season. She also loved her three stepchildren, and there families, and she cherished her six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Coming from a big family, her nieces, and nephews were such an inspiration in her life, that she loved dearly. Her example of steadfast love and encouragement will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, S.J Jones & Elizabeth Whiteside Jones; brothers, James Jones and Earl Jones; sisters, Emma Allsup, Dorothy Wills, Jennie Jones, and Linda Jones; and son-n-law, Larry Ginn. Her two beloved husbands Dewey Barker Jr. married for 31 years, followed by James Snider for 25 years. Both wonderful examples of Godly husbands and fathers.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Ginn Holloway (Greg); son, Dewey "Butch" Barker (Donya); sister, Evelyn Lloyd; Betty Clay (Floyd); Jackie Rankin (Lance) and brother, Edgar Jones (Martha).
