
Memorial service for Morris Leaton Stokes, 88, of Eastaboga, will be 3 pm Today June 27, 2015, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church with Dr. John White officiating. The family will receive friends today from 1:30-3pm at the church. Mr. Stokes passed away on Thursday at RMC.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Martha Pendley Stokes, four sons, Mitchell Stokes (Anita), Raymond Stokes (Karen), Roger Stokes and Danny Stokes (Lisa), seven grandchildren, Dustin Stokes, (Jessica), Leah Suddeth (Blake), Bethany Perry (David), Andrea Stokes, Brett Stokes, Alex Stokes and Bridgette Stokes and two great-grandchildren, Hannah & Noah Perry.
Mr. Stokes is preceded in death by his parents, Ferris & Rennie Stokes, twin brother, Horace Stokes and sister, Gladys Stokes.
Mr. Stokes was a native of Steens, Mississippi and was a resident of Calhoun County for most of his life. He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Eastaboga Masonic Lodge #155. Mr. Stokes retired from the Anniston Army Depot. He was an avid gardener, featured multiple times in the Anniston Star. Mr. Stokes was a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
