Patsy Ann Ford Strickland, 83, died September 9, 2021, at Citizens Hospital in Talladega. She was born on March 17, 1938, in Anniston, AL, the daughter of Willene Morvec and Newt Hopkins Ford. Mrs. Strickland lived in Anniston for most of her young life until she married Shannon Strickland in May 1958. While raising her children, Mrs. Strickland also worked at Palm Beach Company in Talladega until the plant closed in 1993. Her days then turned into helping take care of and loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her Granny. Teaching them to play rummy and shell peas, she only took time for herself when she enjoyed a cup of coffee and a book in the quiet moment of the early morning.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Shannon Ernest Strickland, Sr) and her daughter (Deborah Kay Strickland Lively), a brother-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her sister Lottie Lay, her son Shannon Ernest Strickland Jr. (Cherry), grandchildren PK Jones, Robyn Lyons (Matt), William Horn (Shannon), Crystal Strickland, Trey Lively. She leaves behind 9 great- grandchildren Kaylie Jones Roberts (Kevin), Brady Jones, M'Aleigh Jones Cardwell (Brady), Sophie Mashon, Emily Lyons, Ethan Lyons, Landon Horn, Brianna Horn and Skyler Horn, 5 great-great grandchildren and a multitude of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
