

Ralph Lelton Bell, age 88, a lifelong resident of Anniston, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Known affectionately as Lelton by family and friends, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friends who touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness.
Born on April 5,1936, to Willie M.Dial and James R. Bell, Lelton spent his formative years in Anniston, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for family, community, and hard work. A proud alumnus of Oxford High School, he was deeply rooted in the values that shaped his life's journey.
For 44 years, Lelton dedicated his professional career to Alagasco, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike for his hard work, reliability, and cheerful demeanor. A veteran of the Alabama National Guard, Lelton lived a life exemplifying service, integrity, and dedication to his country and community.
Beyond his professional and civic commitments, Lelton 's true joy came from his personal life. He shared an extraordinary 64-year marriage with his beloved wife, Sue Bell, who predeceased him. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, cherished traditions, and an open door for all.
Lelton was predeceased by his parents; his brother, William Stanley Bell; and his wife, Sue Bell.
He is survived by his devoted son, Randy Bell (Katrina), who admired him as both a father and a role model. Lelton 's greatest pride was his grandchildren, Harper and Jackson Bell, whose lives he enriched with his love, wisdom, and countless unforgettable moments.
A man of many passions, Lelton found joy on the golf course, behind the lens of a camera, and cheering for his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a storyteller, mentor, and a friend to everyone he met, known for his innate ability to connect with people and his remarkable gift for never meeting a stranger.
A memorial service to celebrate Lelton 's extraordinary life will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 1100 am at Chapel Hill Funeral Home (542 W 52nd St., Anniston, Al. 36206). Visitation will precede the service, offering an opportunity for friends and family to gather and share memories. Following the service, Lelton will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Lelton 's enduring legacy of love, generosity, and an unwavering zest for life will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His family invites everyone to honor his memory by embracing the kindness and humor that defined him.
