Robert “Pete” Pentecost of Anniston, AL beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather left to be with his Savior and gathered with his own on Thursday, November 16th, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Jo Gray Pentecost; his parents Ernest and Nannie Pentecost; and 10 siblings.
Mr. Pentecost is survived by his children, Debby Trimble of Birmingham, AL, David Pentecost (Charlotte) of Moody, AL, Penny Ford of Birmingham, AL, and Peggy Lacher (Grady) of Anniston, AL. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Brett Pentecost (Megan) of Moody, AL, Brittany Byrd (Chris) of Moody, AL, Jana Roberts (Cody) of Anniston, AL, Nick Ford of Austin, TX, and Tyde Lacher of Tuscaloosa, AL. He was blessed with six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pentecost grew up working on his family’s farm in Southside, AL. He joined the military and served in the US Army and then in the Army National Guard for a combined total of 29 years. He took great pride in serving his country. He worshipped at West Park Heights Baptist Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed exercise, gardening, and visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved animals and owned many faithful dogs in his lifetime. He was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide fan. (Roll Tide!)
Services will be held at Gray Brown Funeral Home in Anniston, AL on Monday, November 20, 2023, with the Reverend Paul Broom of West Park Heights Baptist Church officiating. The family of Mr. Pentecost will receive visitors from 10-11 am, and the funeral service will begin in the chapel at 11:00 am. Immediately following will be a graveside service with an Honor Guard and a 21-gun salute at Anniston Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to West Park Heights Baptist Church.
