Funeral services for Robert C. Simmons, III (Bob), 76, of Anniston will be Saturday, Sept 1, 2018 at 2:00pm at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Chaplain Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Bob passed away Sunday, August 26th in Anniston.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years Vickie Simmons and children: daughter, Olivia Simmons; sons, Robert C. Simmons, IV (Lynda) of Virginia, John W. Simmons of Georgia; sister, Ruth Roten (Rob); grandchildren, Paul Simmons, David Simmons and Korah Simmons.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Robert and Ruth Simmons and a daughter, Eva Simmons.
Bob was born in Mobile, Alabama and was a long time resident of Calhoun County. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School (1959) and Auburn University. Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was an entrepreneur of businesses and other real estate ventures. He demanded excellence of himself and others.
He was a loyal supporter of the Republican Party, an avid photographer and an expert marksman. Bob was a loving and devoted husband and father who was a great provider and comforter. He enjoyed nature and caring for his menagerie of animals.
He had a strong faith in God, family and country.
The family will accept flowers or memorials made to an animal shelter of your choice.
