Ruth Devine

Funeral services for Ruth Louise Bates Devine, 83, formerly of Oxford, will be 1 pm Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Coldwater Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Cordle officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 – 8 pm at Gray Brown-Service and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Mrs. Devine went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2011. Mrs. Devine died at McKendree Village Health Care in Hermitage, TN where she had resided for the past three years.

Survivors include her son, Rev. Bobby D. Devine (Maria) of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Alma Childress of Opelika and Peggy Baggett (Hollis) of Florida, one brother, Bert Bates of Cleveland, TN, four grandsons: Michael D. Devine (Windi) of Nashville, TN; Andrew Dunaway (Tammy); Matthew Dunaway and Mark Dunaway all of Oxford, six great grandchildren; Molly Devine, Alison Devine, John David Devine, Shelby Dunaway, Jackson Dunaway and Emma Dunaway, son-in-law, Roger Dunaway.

Mrs. Devine is preceded in death by her husband, Buster B. Devine and her daughter, Alice Faye Devine Dunaway all of Oxford.

Pallbearers will be Michael Devine, Andrew Dunaway, Matthew Dunaway, Mark Dunaway, Ryan Harmon and Cale Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Dunaway and James Dunaway.

Mrs. Devine was a member of Coldwater Baptist Church in Oxford, AL for many years and had taught the Women’s Sunday School Class at Coldwater Baptist Church and Oxford First Baptist Church.
