On Sunday, March 28, 2021, Shirley Jean Fulmer, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 77. Shirley was born on May 4, 1943, to Walter Franklin Burnett and Elsie (Smith) Burnett in Anniston, Alabama. On February 16, 1963, Shirley married the love of her life, James Kenneth Fulmer, and had two children, Tina and Dennis. Shirley held several jobs, but her favorite was selflessly caring for her children and any others who needed a little extra mothering.
Shirley loved the Lord and her favorite activities were sewing, baking, quilting, and crocheting for people that she loved and anyone else who needed a helping hand. She was a beautiful example of a Christian wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Conyers Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes and served others for 47 years. Furthermore, she delighted in her two granddaughters, Robin and Krista, and great-grandchildren, Isabella (Izzy) and David. Shirley never met a stranger and was kind and compassionate to everyone. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Frank, and mother, Elsie. She is survived by her husband, James, and her brother, Steve (Linda) Burnett, her two children, Tina (Kevin) Lee and Dennis (Jill) Fulmer, as well as her grandchildren, Robin (Peter) Nelson, Krista (Dalton) Edgeman, and great-grandchildren, Isabella Edgeman and David Nelson. She also had several nieces and Nephews.
Visitation on be held on Wednesday, March 31st, from 6pm to 8pm Central Time at Gray-Brown Funeral Home, 1329 Wilmer Avenue, Anniston, Alabama. The graveside service will be 10:00 am, Thursday at Forestlawn Gardens, 730 Golden Springs Road, Anniston, Alabama with Jeff Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
