Services for Johnny will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel Harper will be officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with services at 1:00pm. Graveside service will follow.
Mr. Harper was a retired Federal Civil Services employee, having worked as a Tank Engine inspector at Anniston Army Depot. He served his country in the US Air Force as a military police. He was a member of Saks Baptist Church and a lifelong resident in the Saks community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Harper Sr. and Myrtle Pitts Harper, his wife, Pauline Medders Harper, his sister, Norma Harper Pinkard, his brother, James Harper and nephews Robert, Kenneth and Ralph Pinkard.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, John Darrel Harper (Becky), daughter Melanie Darline Harper, granddaughters, Robyn L. Harper (Holli) and Valerie Denise Harper, three great-grandchildren, Caitlin Harper, Brooklyn Willingham and Dylan Harper and three step great children, Jacob Campbell, Caleb Campbell and Bentley Gonzalos. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald W. Harper (Jean) and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Josh Harper, Ashton Harper, Tim Harper, Keith Pinkard, Eric Barnwell, Brandon Barnwell and Colin Barnwell.
Johnny loved his Savior Jesus Christ, his family and his country. He was deeply loved and will be missed by many, especially his family. He enjoyed painting landscapes, wood burning and wood working.
We would like to thank the staff at Legacy Village of Jacksonville for the kindness, compassion and care shown to our father/grandfather for the past several years.
