
Funeral service for William Hiram "Bill" Hicks Jr., 81, of Anniston, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with the Rev. Bill Snow officiating. Burial will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 until service time.
Survivors include his daughter, Janet Hicks Stover and husband, Rev. Larry, of Valley Grande, Alabama; son, William Hiram "Billy" Hicks III, of Montgomery; grandchildren, Paula Stover, and Joshua Stover, of Valley Grande, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Rebekah Stover and Nathan Stover, of Valley Grande; and cousin, Joe Roberts, of Anniston.
Mr. Hicks is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Suddeth Hicks, and parents, William Hiram Hicks Sr. and Mittie Roberts Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a life time resident of Anniston, and a member of Edgewood Congregational Methodist Church. A graduate of Anniston High School, he attended Jacksonville State University and was a founding member of the "Marching Southerners" and a "Charter Member" of their Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity. For many years he was an insurance agent. He retired from the city of Anniston, and spent many years as a pastor of several Congregational Methodist churches. He was also a veteran of the United States Army
