I just wanted to say a word about Gregg.  I worked with him for many years at the Veteran's Home, and he always made my day.  Gregg always had an interesting perspective to share, and prided himself in his appearance and keeping his belongings in tiptop shape.  I always enjoyed his jokes and his sense of humor, and I appreciated his insights into his life and his struggles.  When feeling comfortable, he would smile broadly and share his appreciation with you. I enjoyed his sense of innocence and love of life.

God's blessings to you all as you remember Gregg's life. I have very fond memories of Gregg growing up as cousins and of his great laugh. We are grateful for his service to our country and we salute him! Our prayers will be with you all!

Gregg and I got along just fine, but he got along even better with my Mom.  The first Christmas of our meeting Gregg, he took my Mom Christmas shopping and they had so much fun.  Gregg truly had a great sense of humor and his smile was the best.  Mom mentioned that shopping trip to Gregg just about every time she saw him, and she sincerely thanked him for the fun each time!  Always Gregg asked me in the last couple years how Mom was doing (when she wasn't along with us to visit), and when I told him of her death in November, he was so genuinely sad, I know she held a special place in his heart.  When I entered Gregg's room at the Veterans' Home in Minneapolis yesterday I burst into tears as it was almost unbearable for Gary and I not to have him there...he truly cared about us, he was so appreciative for little things, a coffee mug, sandals, a lamp...he showed us how much it really meant to him that we found what he needed (Doug had given him a great TV too!!) but mostly that he was glad to see us.  As I sat crying in the room, numerous nursing and nursing assistant staff came to me and mentioned how much of a pleasure it was to know Gregg.  They said even when he was so weak (COPD was very bad) yet he wanted to do everything for himself.  He was amazing to them in how he handled his own care.  His roommate spoke so highly of Gregg and called him a true gentleman.  I was so touched by all the words spoken to me.  As we left, a friend of Gregg's came up to us and said he just wanted to shake our hands.  He was so sincere in his admiration of Gregg as well.  I would like to personally send out a thank you to all the staff and residents at the Minnesota Veterans' Home in Hastings also, that was Gregg's home since 1997, up until April of 2015.  He loved living there and he was treated as family by all.  We all knew that Gregg was cared for so well there.  The birthday parties and family picnics we enjoyed with Gregg were great.  Thank you will never be enough, words just are not enough for the caring there.

Dear Lord, look over him and keep him in Your loving arms forever!

My Uncle Gregg was truly a joy in my life. I had a strong bond with him from birth, it's something you can't describe. He was so sweet and seemed quiet, but he shined when he thought something was funny (he himself had a quick wit) and he had a smile that you could feel in your soul. He taught me that if you judge a book by its cover, you will never see God's gift inside. What my Uncle was to me in my life was truly a gift from God. I love you Uncle Gregg and you will always be in heart!
