Thomas Alfred Torson, age 70, son of Theron and Lorraine (Bickel) Torson, born July 27, 1950 in Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away from a brief battle with cancer at his home in Bethel, MN, on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
At the age of three, his father was killed in a trucking accident. A couple years later, Tom gained his second father, when his mother Lorraine married Marvin Andrews. The family moved to Graceville, MN, where Tom graduated from Graceville High School in 1968 and then the University of Minnesota in Marshall, MN. He was united in marriage to Karen Kloos on June 18th, 1977. Tom and family moved to St. Francis, MN, in 1985 where the family currently resides.
Tom's own experiences with golf, football, basketball, and baseball in high school and college made him the perfect at-home coach. Being an athlete himself, he was involved with his children and grandchildren in the St. Francis and local athletic communities. Tom was always a part of their games, from coaching at the youth level to supporting them from the sidelines.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie; his father, Theron; parents, Lorraine and Marvin Andrews; and sister, Diane.
Tom's legacy will live on through his loving wife of 43 years, Karen; children, Terry (Marlo) Torson, Todd Torson, Jaclynn (Lorne) Rothbauer, Tracy (Danyelle) Torson; grandchildren, Ellison and Brayden Torson, Trinity Torson, Madison, Makayla and Tanner Rothbauer, Kip, Kal, and Millie Torson; siblings, Sharon (Ron) Buntje, brother-in-law Ron Ritter, Steve (Kay) Andrews, Janet (Ross) Stark; and extended family and friends.
