Randy was born on September 29, 1942, in Woodbridge, Virginia, to Mae and Bennie Stone. He grew up in Woodbridge and graduated from Garfield High School. Following high school, Randy enlisted in the United States Army, beginning a lifelong commitment to service and country.
After his honorable discharge, Randy served with the National Park Police before embarking on a distinguished career with the United States Secret Service, Uniformed Division. During his many years of service, Randy held several roles, including overseeing the firearms training range and later serving on White House kitchen detail. His career spanned multiple presidential administrations, from Lyndon B. Johnson through the transition from Ronald Reagan to George H. W. Bush. Randy took great pride in the oath he swore to serve and protect the Presidents of the United States, though he remained humble and rarely spoke of his experiences.
Following his retirement from the Secret Service, Randy relocated to Ormond Beach, Florida, where he continued his dedication to public service by working for the Volusia County Courts until his full retirement.
In June of 2005, Randy married Frances “Fran” McKee Couch. From the moment he became part of the family, Randy loved his stepdaughter and her children as if they were his own, there was no “step” involved. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Randy could be counted on to help with the kids, build a squirrel feeder, or quietly show up whenever he was needed. His strong respect for the law, shaped by his law enforcement background, was well known and often brought smiles, especially his careful approach to driving.
Randy treasured time with his family, particularly the tradition of taking his grandchildren to the White House for special tours when they each turned ten, giving them unforgettable behind-the-scenes experiences. He loved desserts, his dogs, his collection of White House Christmas ornaments, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Mae and Bennie Stone; his first wife, Jacqueline Faucette Stone; and his brother, Wallace Stone.
He is survived by his wife, Frances ‘Fran’ Mckee Stone; his stepdaughter, Sammi Couch Caruso; his son, John Stone; his grandchildren, Kate McLaurien Caruso, Austin Thomas Caruso, Quentin Michael Caruso, Jr., and Nathan Gabriel Stone; his sister, Martha Wood; his brother, Norman Stone; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Randy will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man of integrity, humility, and quiet patriotism. His family is deeply grateful for his service, his love, and the many ways he enriched their lives.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Apopka. Interment with full military honors will take place Friday, January 30, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Randy’s honor to either of his favorite charities, Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project, both of which he supported each year.
