Milton Leroy Dowd

After a courageous battle against cancer, Milton Leroy Dowd passed away at the age of 55 on August 10, 2010 at his home in Hoopa surrounded by loved ones. He was born January 15, 1955 in Hoopa. He was preceded in death by his parents George Milton Dowd, Agnes Mildred Dowd and brother Roger Lyle Dowd. Although he had no children of his own, he was the father figure of many children throughout the years. Miltie was a compassionate, patient and loving person; devoted to his family, and loyal to his friends. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of those whose lives he touched and mentored as "Uncle Milt". Miltie was the beloved brother of Gloria and Philip Vigil, Marjorie Jones and Gaylord Dowd, and the loving uncle to Danette and Inmar Munir, Christie Vigil and children Kara, Philip and Dowdie, Fawnee and Benny Helms and children Shy, Summer, Kethnu and Selaya, Koe-Soes Vigil, Kessie and Mike Masten and children Ashley, M's, Meka, JoJo, and Koby; Floyd and Delilah Jones and children Sadie, Priscilla, Little Floyd, and Everett Tina and Morgan Grass and children Sequoyah and Ma-phe, and niece Michelle Jones; and special friend Geneva Donahue. The wake will be held at the family home on Sunday August 15 with the services on Monday at 11:00 at the Neighborhood Facility.
