A life well lived.
Bill was born to Leonis & Vera Ray, one of eight children. As a young man, he moved to California from Oklahoma. Working in the Forest Industry, he met our mother, Marjie, and they married, raising four children. After our parents marriage ended, dad met and married Connie. She was a great stepmother to all of us. We lost her in 1975. Our brother Steve passed away in 1999. Grandson "Billy" passed away in 2007. Dad is now with those whom he loved dearly. Those of us, who remain, find comfort knowing that he is with loved ones.
Our father, grandfather and great grandfather, was a man of simple ways and simple taste. Dad's work ethics had him working until the age of 79 & ½ years. Many years of living and working in Humboldt County, created many friendships that he treasured.
Bill's love of reading a good book, telling a good story and spending time with his family, were very important to him until the end of his live. Dad passed away in the garden, on the mountain he loved, which he called home. Love and peace for "pops" and this cold one is for you dad.
Family and friends are invited to his Graveside service at the Blue Lake Cemetery on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.
Arrangements are under the care of Paul's Chapel, (707) 822-2445.
