David Allan Clemmer, 61, transitioned from this life on September 6, 2024. Dave was born on November 4, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Robert Clemmer and to Martha Piehl Clemmer who resides in Altoona, PA. He is one of five children, having two sisters, Debbie Mosley (Dave) and Martha McClellan (Dan) who live in Pennsylvania, and two brothers, Bob Clemmer (Candy) and Dennis Clemmer (deceased) who joined Dave in North Carolina. Dave has many nieces and nephews including Michelle Cherry (Chris), Mike Smith (Angela), Danny McClellan, April Edwards (Brad), Candace Saint (Tyler), James Clemmer, and Jacob Clemmer, as well as four grand-nieces and nephews.
Dave relocated to North Carolina in 1984 to work in the textile industry and built a life in the Triad area. He married Ellen Elliott in 1987 and they had a precious child, Cherish Cate Clemmer, together in 1989. Despite the marriage ending, Dave and Ellen shared a love for their daughter Cherish and a deep friendship that remained constant throughout his life. Dave was also deeply loved by his grandson, Xander Daylen Miller, and his grandson’s father, Brent Miller.
David Clemmer was a beautiful, precious soul who loved his family deeply. His loyalty, kindness, and genuineness were unsurpassed, and given freely to friends and family. Dave was a character not easily forgotten. He would be described by those who loved him as a deeply treasured “grumpy old man”, quick to blurt out a sarcastically humorous one-liner, and never forgetting to end every conversation with “I love you”. Dave loved to fish, draw, spend time with Cherish and Xander, play the harmonica, and listen to classic rock music. He had a special relationship with animals and appreciated nature of all forms. He was beautifully authentic and perceptive, and will be greatly missed by the many people who knew and loved him.
A small family gathering will take place in Patton, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Dave to Hospice of High Point at 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
The family is under the care of Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services of Archdale. Online condolences may be shared at www.AdvantageArchdale.com.
