Jacqueline Cameron Hinesley (Jackie) passed away July 20, 2013 at her home after years of declining health. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Lee Cameron and Effie McKay. Jackie had a strong Christian faith, and was a lifelong Presbyterian, first as a member of Barbecue Presbyterian Church (Harnett County); later, First Presbyterian Church (Sanford), Randolph Presbyterian Church (Archdale), and First Presbyterian Church (High Point).
Jackie graduated from Benhaven High School (Harnett County) in 1948. Later that year, she married Lewis H. Hinesley, and shared 52 years with him before his death in 2001. They lived in Sanford, NC until 1970; thereafter, in Archdale, NC. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother (Perry Cameron), and a sister (Jesse Mabe), all from the Barbecue Church community near Olivia, south of Sanford.
Jackie was a traditional stay-at-home mom while her children were small. She attended and graduated from Sanford Business College in 1963. Then, she worked 7 years in the City Clerk’s office in Sanford. Later, she worked 3 years at Textile Industries in Thomasville, and 18 years as cashier at Presbyterian Home in High Point.
Jackie is survived by her son Eric and wife Angela (Raleigh), and daughter Joy (Archdale); three grandchildren: Jennifer Medlin (High Point), Cameron Hinesley (Raleigh), and Laura Deitrick (Raleigh); and one great-grandchild (Jaylin Deitrick).
Jackie was a good wife, mother, and friend. She appreciated music and art, and gave her children the opportunity to experience those things. She was practical minded, with good judgment and wisdom, honest, and was a good manager of family finances. Despite numerous health problems and discomfort during her later years, she maintained an upbeat and cheerful attitude, and was quick to count her blessings. She appreciated the little things in life: enjoying God’s creation (birds, flowers, and trees), sending or receiving a card, reading and studying The Bible, listening to good music, travelling, playing the piano or organ, singing a song, reading or writing a poem, cooking, painting or viewing art, reading a book, visiting family and friends, vacations, family gatherings at holidays, reunions, and talking about family history, etc.
A service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held at 11 am Tuesday in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Rd., Archdale with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Broman-Fulks officiating. Burial will follow at 2pm Tuesday in Lee Memory Gardens, Sanford, NC. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Monday at Sechrest Funeral Service, Archdale.
The family gives special thanks to her caregivers, Janet Shores (Thomasville) and Ellen Russell (Greensboro). We also thank Hospice of the Piedmont, and all the doctors and nurses who ministered to Jackie in recent years. Joy Hinesley faithfully cared for her Mom during the last years. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont or First Presbyterian Church of High Point.
