Lucy was born in Elkin, the last of fourteen siblings, a daughter of the late Nathaniel Gray Kennedy and Lillie Florence Norman Kennedy. A resident of Trinity for many years, she was a beautician and then taught art at Davidson County Community College for several years. Lucy was known for her landscape artwork, for which she won numerous awards. She was also a caregiver for the elderly for many years. Lucy was a very creative woman who loved to shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jonathan Paul Kelly. Her heart was always for the Lord and her family.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Debbie Kelly, Brian Kelly, and Mike Kelly; four grandchildren, Jeanie Heath, Daniel Kelly, Vanessa Kelly and Michael Kelly; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Nguyen, Emma Heath, Madison Kelly, Aaliyah Kelly, Wyatt Chambers and Lisa Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Lucy's life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Central Full Gospel Church, 503 Dry Wall Rd., State Road, NC 28676 by Pastor Bob Pavlacka and Pastor Bobby Norman. The family will receive friends at Advantage Funeral and Cremations Service in Archdale Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. and also at the church Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the service.
