

Alba Marina Alfonso age 83 and a resident of Huntley, passed away peacefully at her home on February 14, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 29, 1932 in Holguin, Cuba and immigrated to the U.S in 1961. She was the youngest of 11 siblings born to Angel Cazadilla (1890-1936) and Angelina Betancourt (1888-1974). Alba was the beloved wife of Jose I.; loving mother of Lisett Marie Alfonso (late Bill) Cluggish, Mario (Karen) Alfonso, Alba Katherine Alfonso, Robert Louis (Heather) Alfonso, Janette A. (Jason) Sfire and the late Edward (Lucinda) Alfonso; cherished grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 6. She was aunt to many nieces and nephews. Alba was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. Alba was a caring stay-home mother for her children and wife to her husband. She and her family were residents of Arlington Heights for more than forty years. Alba had a talent for running expediently a household and its décor and was an accomplished seamstress. She was an avid gardener with a passion for flowers. She traveled extensively the country and overseas with her husband and departed leaving behind the gift of remarkable and unforgettable memories of her love and care to her family. Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 3-9 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights where funeral service will be held Friday, February 20 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
