Al always found the time to share his knowledge about the law. Al’s search warrant book was a trusted valuable resource during my career at the States Attorney Office, which bring true meaning of leaving an everlasting legacy behind for others to to see and share. Tomaso Family - Please accept my condolences on your loss. Al and I were a couple of the 550 members of the Quigley freshman class of September, 1960. Since we were assigned to our home rooms in alphabetical order we didn't run into each other that year and the next year Quigley South opened and I headed to 79th and Western while Al stayed at 103 East Chestnut. We both worked in the State's Attorneys Office years later, but never together. Al always had a great reputation in The Office as a fine lawyer, great boss and fine and decent man.

Our hearts goes out to Sylvia and the wonderful Tomaso family. Al was a friend we could talk to anytime about family, Chicago politics and sports, especially the White Sox. One of our favorite memories of Al was at our annual block parties. Al would provide delicious and amazing barbequed food for everyone; the annual block party never started until the famous Tomaso pizza arrived! There was also an extra pizza for the adults to enjoy after all the kids went to bed. Al was a great man; he dedicated his life to making the world a better place, and it was, because he was in it. Al was a wonderful person with a kind heart and generous personality. I had the privilege of working with Al when we were in the State’s Attorneys Office and I have many fond memories of those years. My sincere condolences to his family, Frank DeBoni.

Al and I took the Chgo ave bus to and fro daily to Quigley. He was a great guy, a handsome fellow, fun yet could be quite serious, and a very fine student. He and his family are in my prayers. I ask Al's prayer for me and mine. Dr. Milt Kobus

I'll never forget the 'heated" lunchtime discussions at Q North. Al and I bravely defending the White Sox against the diehard Cub fans. I think the seeds of a future litigator were planted during his passionate arguments for the White Sox, position by position against the Cubs' counterparts. A fond memory of my jr. and sr. years at 103 E. Chestnut. A life well lived: "I have fought the good fight to the end. I have run the race to finish. I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy, ch. 4 v. 7) "In Paradisum, deducant te angeli." Simply put, Al was one the the “good guys”. I met Al in 1980 when he was with the State Attorneys Office and I was with the Sheriffs Office. Back in the day we travelled the circuit going from town to town at various courthouses. Al made the workdays fun, always that big cheesy smile, ready for a joke. He treated everyone with respect and kindness. But that kindness should never be seen as weakness. When he put on his case in a trial, he was all business, no nonsense. Al will be missed by many.
