Angelo Anzalone, a pillar of strength and resilience, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024 at the age of 88 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 2, 1936 to the late Giuseppe and late Desiderata (nee Dispenza) Anzalone in Ciminna, Sicily.
A devoted family man, Angelo loved and cherished his wife Antoinette (nee DiVita) Anzalone of 67 years; loving and proud father of Joseph, Salvatore (Kathy), Frank (Suzanne), Vito (Coleen) and Anthony. Devoted Nonno of Angelo (Nicole), Rosa (Nick), Joseph (Cheryl), Lisa, Melissa (Bill), Michael, Angela (Ken), Antoinette, Sal (Danielle), Christopher (Ali), Nick, Alec, Michelle, Serena, Nathan and Ava. Treasured Great-Nonno to fourteen great-grandchildren; loving brother to the late Salvatore (Angela), Rosaria (late Giovanni) and Elena (late Frank). He is preceded in death by his siblings Agata (Vito), Francesco, Rosa (Giuseppe), Giuseppe (Lauretta), Vito (Rosaria), Giuseppa (Salvatore) Antonino, Maria Concetta (Salvatore). He was a loving brother in-law and fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Angelo ventured to the United States in pursuit of a better life at the age of 18. He worked tirelessly in various occupations before discovering his true passion: crafting pizza. Eventually Angelo's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own pizza business, which has since flourished into a beloved institution operated by first and second generations of his cherished family. His hard work, dedication, and commitment to quality laid the groundwork for a successful legacy that will endure for years to come.
Angelo was one of the initial members to join the San Giovanni Bosco Society in 1959. He was an avid gardener cultivating an array of vegetables; including zucchini that often towered above the norm. He enjoyed lively Italian card games and playing Bocce Ball with his many friends and family members. He loved to travel across the United States and to many countries, sharing his vacations with those he loved.
Angelo leaves behind a profound legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to family values.
Angelo was known for his generosity, kindness, and unwavering Catholic Faith. He touched the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he served. May he rest in peace.
Visitation on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Height Road, Arlington Heights,IL from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass, no visitation, will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Road, Mount Prospect, IL at 10:30 am. Entombment will take place at All Saints Cemetery.
