

Carl Joseph King passed away peacefully on January 18, 2022 with his family at his bedside. He was founder and President of King-Fisher Company for over forty years. Carl was born in Passaic, New Jersey on October 11, 1932. He took on responsibility at an early age, selling newspapers seven nights a week on the streets of New Jersey while also excelling in school and sports. At the age of 19 at the start of the Korean War, Carl enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at a remote base in Alaska until the war ended. Following his discharge, he continued his education and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the Newark School of Engineering. He began his career designing fire sprinkler systems and continued in the fire services industry throughout his career. In the early ‘60’s he moved his family to Illinois and started his own company as a sales representative for major fire protection companies. He expanded his business to include engineering, manufacturing and installation. The KF systems are currently installed in municipalities and military bases worldwide. The company was sold and Carl retired at the age of 77. Retirement was enjoyed with family and friends. He and his wife Eileen spent winters in Florida. In the summer months, they frequently traveled to their home in Door County, WI with their children Kelly (Vincent) McGuire and Douglas (Marla) Gordon and grandchildren Brennan and Kaitlin McGuire and Turner, Kaylie and Connor Gordon. Carl loved cooking for his large extended family at his Hawthorn Woods home. He published two cookbooks featuring some of his favorite recipes as well as recipes of family and friends: “Carl’s Cookbook I and II”. All proceeds were donated to Salute, Inc., a charitable organization headquartered in Palatine, IL whose sole mission is to help military personnel and their families during their time of need. Carl was proud to be a charter member on the Board of Directors of Peoples Bank of Arlington Heights. He was a Field Advocate for the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago for many years. His was a life well lived and he will be long remembered and loved by all those who were part of his life.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm with a Prayer service at 2pm at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. AH, IL.
