Of Arlington Heights
Edgar Nolan, of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, just weeks after his 92nd birthday. Edgar was born and raised on Chicago’s south side, the eldest of 4 children. He attended Mt Carmel High School, and DePaul University where he met his wife. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage.
He will be remembered by his wife, Sylvia (nee Pask), and sister Dorothy Alice Price; children Thomas (Mary Jean), Laura, Matthew (Danielle) Nolan; grandchildren Kevin, Becca (Christian), Andrew (Blake), Gavin Nolan; and his Maryville kids Shammah Timms, Vachel White, Terence White. He was preceded in death by siblings Gerald Nolan, Nancy Chapman, son-in-law John Heinrichs.
As a US Navy Corpsman attached to the 7th Marine Corps division, Ed served his country in the Korean War. He returned home and began a career in emblematic jewelry sales and ultimately retired as Vice President of Olsen Temporary Services. Outside the office, he enjoyed volunteering with the Read to Learn program through the Arlington Heights Memorial Library for many years and was a dedicated volunteer at Maryville.
Edgar was a beloved man to all; quick with a joke and a smile. He loved fishing trips to Canada with the guys, watching and playing golf, Zulu Warrior movies, marching in the St Patrick’s Day Parade, his extended Irish Catholic family members, and a stiff drink. He was a dyed in the wool White Sox fan, though during baseball season, he was too nervous to watch the games.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at St James Parish, 831 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights IL 60004. Visitation from 9 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10 am. Private burial will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edgar’s name can be made to Maryville City of Youth, 1150 N. River Rd., Des Plaines, IL 60016.
