Elizabeth Makow, 97, was born March 20, 1927 in Poland, to Boleslaw and Julia Lipnicki. She died Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Northwest Community Hospital, in Arlington Heights, Illinois surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Makow will be remembered as the neighborhood greeter, waving to all from her front porch bench as they passed her home, was an avid gardener and would often be found tending to her plants surrounding her house. She couldn't wait for Spring so she could start on her tomato plants, which she loved to share with everyone. She was a caring, adoring, and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. One way she exhibited her love was by cooking and making sure all were well fed. 1st thing she would ask when you came over was "are you hungry".
Throughout her life, she exemplified a rare selflessness, always putting the needs and well-being of others above her own. Whether it was lending a listening ear to a friend or quietly supporting her family through every challenge, she embodied compassion and generosity in every action and decision.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, John (Anita Kite) Makow, Donna Makow, Stan (Lynn) Makow, and Teri (Tony) Rossi; and her grandsons Nicholas and Stephen Rossi, who were the light of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stefan Makow, her parents, brothers and sister.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2024 be from 9:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment following at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine, IL.
