Esther Amanda Dabbert

Esther grew up in the Depression era and watched her mother work to support the family due to her father’s early death from Parkinson’s disease. Esther graduated from Maine East High School and while there she met her future husband, Bernie Dabbert who was attending Taft High School. They were married just prior to Bernie’s discharge from the Navy in 1945.

Esther had a wonderful sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. She was an inspiration to all that knew her.

Esther was preceded in death by her loving husband Bernie in 2008, her firstborn son William, who was killed in Vietnam in 1969, her sisters Marion Sussin and Alice Meersman and her grandson Keill Cunningham. She is survived by her children Robert “Bob” Dabbert, Jack (Janet) Dabbert, Nancy (Richard) Carlson, Patricia Cunningham; her grandchildren Kate (Dan) Shapiro, Bill Dabbert, Ben Dabbert, Nadine (Corey) Carlisle, Justin (Megan) Carlson, Tia Carlson, Kevin Cunningham and her great-grandchildren Axel and Briana.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 1-5 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights where the Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 20 at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
