

Born in Olvera Spain on November 20,1940, died peacefully with family members present on January 9, 2026. She is survived by her husband Philip Bares, son Roger Bares, daughters Michele Hill and her husband Jonathan, Angelica Ward and her husband Ronald, and Melissa Cosgrove, sisters Josefa and Ana Ramirez Garcia. She was the loving grandmother of six grandchildren: Cameron Hill, Olivia Hill, Natalie Ward, Lucas Ward, Joseph Cosgrove, and Timothy Cosgrove. Cherished aunt of 9 nieces and nephews. Paquita met her husband Philip while working at a US Air Force base in Spain as a manager of the Central Base Fund. They were married on October 14, 1967 while Philip was serving in the service as a Finance Officer.
Paquita retired from the microbiology lab at Northwest Community Hospital in 2007. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening and serving on various commissions at her church. She was always eager to volunteer at Greenbrier school and Buffalo Grove High school while her children attended, especially the Music for Youth program. She loved people and could strike up a conversation with anyone, always showing an interest in other people’s lives. Paquita loved the arts and regularly attended the Chicago Symphony and Opera. She will be truly missed.
