

GAIL ELEANOR BERNADETTE HERCULE (NEE MASSINGALE) was born on May 21, 1947 to the late Ossie and Clara Massingale in Chicago, Illinois. Gail entered into her heavenly life on May 4, 2016, joining her parents, brothers Michael James Massingale and John Ossie Massingale, and sister, Christine Ann Massingale.Gail attended St. Ambrose Catholic School where she was also baptized, received her first Holy Communion and Confirmation. She then attended Thomas Aquinas Dominican and John Marshall Harlan High Schools, before obtaining a Nursing Degree from South Chicago Community Hospital School of Nursing and a B.S. in Nursing from DePaul University. Her nursing career included South Chicago Community Hospital, Mt. Sinai Hospital, and Cook County Hospital " before rising in the ranks to Director of Home Health Care at Roosevelt Memorial Hospital. Forever driven, Gail later went on to obtain a Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall Law School and became a practicing attorney.Gail was the extremely proud and devoted mother of Brian Christopher Hercule (Rachel) and Jessica Lauren Hercule (Brandan Wesson). She was also the second oldest of seven children and took her role as the "big sister" very seriously.Left to celebrate and cherish Gail"s memory are her children, Brian and Jessica; her sisters, Judith German (Bill Watson), Cynthia Johnson (Lloyd) and Deborah Massingale; as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and a host of dear friends.A memorial service will be held on May 21, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. (promptly), with the Repast to follow, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1012 E 47th St., Chicago, IL 60653. (The doors of the Church will open for arrivals at 11:00 a.m. - Street parking is available)In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities played a significant role in the life of the Hercule family - it brought them together. Gail adopted both Brian and Jessica through Catholic Charities in 1983 and 1986, respectively. She lived for her children and knew that it could only be God, working through Catholic Charities, to create a family unit so meant to be.
