A dedicated educator, Irene lived a life full of joy, companionship, and love. As a preschool teacher, Irene found her life’s calling in shaping young children and helping them to grow during their formative years. With her husband, Robert, who was also an educator, she was able to share commonality in reaching children. Outside of her professional life, Irene loved to host family and friends. An active and social person, she embraced opportunities to connect and engage with others. Bringing people together to share in the special moments and occasions allowed her to impart a smile on all those that accepted the invitations. Her annual Christmas Eve party was always marked on everyone’s calendar. With her family, Irene spent time traveling and enjoyed taking in various cultures and sights. When she was able to enjoy quieter moments, she loved to read. Her greatest joy in life was always spending time with her family. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. A testament to this is that she spent only 10 nights away from Robert in over five decades of marriage.
Born on March 4, 1949, in Chicago, to the late William and Lorraine Papa, she was the beloved wife of Robert J. Koralik; cherished mother of Jeffrey (Jessica) Koralik and Michael (Kaitlin) Koralik; adored grandmother of Andrew Koralik and Caroline Koralik; and dear sister of William M. Papa, Jr.
