James S. Cicarelli was born on August 24, 1941, in New Haven, CT to Pasquale Cicarelli and Gelsumina (nee Pascarelli) Cicarelli. He died Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in Arlington Heights.
Dr. Cicarelli worked as a Dean of School of Business and Economics faculty for Roosevelt University in Schaumburg for 26 years. Throughout this career, he authored several books and articles that contributed to the advancement of economic thought, and he cared deeply about the students in his classes. Although he retired, he was still active in academic research and writing. In his leisure time, he enjoyed participating in softball, volleyball, tennis, and walking with his wife Juli in the neighborhood. He was also a strong advocate for the rights of developmentally disabled adults and their ability to live more independently. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, and loved to spend time with his family, especially his son and grandson, and was loved by all.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Julianne (nee Bellmore); children, Jill (Gerald) Dannemiller and David Cicarelli; grandson, Leroy Dannemiller; sister-in-law, Rose Belair; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held privately in the spring.
