James Risner

Of Arlington Heights

James Risner was born on August 19, 1940, in Prestonsburg, KY to William and Maxine (nee Wallen) Risner. He died Monday, January 17, 2022, in Naperville.

Mr. Risner served in the United States Marine Corps as radio operator for the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, CA. He worked as a sales manager for American President Line in Chicago and Hallmark Service Corp in Naperville. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights. James was an avid golfer, loved to play cards and board games but mostly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James is survived by his children, Leslee (Mike) Coleman and James M (Sue) Risner; grandchildren, Michael (Marie) Coleman, Benjamin (Megan) Coleman, Laurie (Isaac) Smith, Emily Risner and Julia Coleman; great-grandchildren, Gwen and Micah James Coleman; siblings, Sherry (the late Timothy) Nelson and Patricia (Gary) Beitel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie A. Risner; granddaughter, Katherine Coleman; his parents; siblings, Michael Risner and William Risner.

Visitation Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 11:00 am until the 12:00 pm Memorial Service at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church 1234 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment is private.
