Jeannette (Jan) Edwina Jankauskas was born January 29, 1943, in Chicago, IL to Frank and Mary Homa. She died on May 28, 2021, from natural causes at The Moorings in Arlington Heights.

Jeannette is survived by her husband Ronald E. Jankauskas; her children Jennifer Jankauskas (Brooks Barrow), Ronald A. Jankauskas, and Melissa Bruder; her grandchildren Anthony, Sophia, and Gabriel, and by her sister Kathleen Solan (Wayne).

Jan is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Homa.

She grew up on the Northside of Chicago, graduating from Notre Dame High School and Mundelein College. Over the years, Jan worked for many organizations including the Village of Arlington Heights, the local branch of the National Education Association, Shelter, Inc., and volunteered her time at both Northwest Community Healthcare and CatchPenny.

Known for her generous, kind, and compassionate nature, Jeannette was an encouragement to all who met her—friends and strangers alike. She possessed a sparkling wit and a booming and infectious laugh and had a true gift for listening and making astute observations, providing sage guidance to all who knew her. Her lifelong passions included her family, friends, animals, and her voracious love of reading.

Mass will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, June 3, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Visitation starting 9:00 am at Church. Entombment following Mass, at All Saint’s Cemetery and Mausoleum, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines. A meal and celebration of Jan’s life will be held following the entombment.
