Joan N. Hering

Joan N. Hering, 87 of Mt. Prospect was born May 1, 1928 in Chicago to Edward and Hazel (nee James) Baumgartner and passed away November 25, 2015. Joan grew up in Chicago. In her early years, she was a talented ballerina and vocalist. She graduated from Amundsen High School and upon completion of a secretarial program, she worked for Montgomery Wards. She married her husband in1952 and they moved to their home in Mt. Prospect, where she lived for 61 years. She served as a Girl Scout leader, and on the PTA’s of Lions Park Elementary and Lincoln Junior High School. She was active in many programs at the Mt. Prospect Bible Church and volunteered for the Friendship Conservatory. In addition to her grand children, Joan enjoyed collecting antiques, raising tropical fish and gardening.Joan was the beloved wife of the late Martin T. Hering; loving mother of Nancy H. (Robert) Laser, Linda H. Kelly (Ken) Posmer, Susan J. Hering and Martin E. Hering and cherished grandmother of Melissa, Mathew, Sarah, Stephanie, Jennifer, Tom and Natalie. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 3-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights where funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 2 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
