John E. Antus

John E. Antus, age 75, of Des Plaines, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home. John was born on September 9, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Ernest and Kathleen (Lewis) Antus. He attended schools in Chicago and graduated from Senn High School. John joined the United States Air Force in 1969 and served until his honorable discharge in 1973. After serving in the Air Force, John met and married the love of his life, Diane Baxter. The couple married in Chicago on December 18, 1976 and had over 45 wonderful years together. John and Diane started Antus Transportation in 1989 and they grew their business until 2010 when they merged with Saturn Freight Systems. John was a hard worker and an avid collector. Over the years, he was known for collecting bar paraphernalia whenever he was traveling. He also collected model trucks and planes, but what he was most known for was his huge hat collection, which even adorned his office walls.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his grandmother, Cecelia and three sisters, Gail, CeCe and Pat.

John is survived by: his wife, Diane; two children, Eric (Courtney) Antus and Amber Antus. As well as other family and many friends.

A memorial visitation for John, will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Lauterberg-Oehler Funeral Home (2000 East Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, IL.) The family asks, in lieu of flowers, please make any memorials in John’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
