John T. Murphy

Of Arlington Heights

John T. Murphy was born February 11, 1961 in Chicago to Robert and Lillie (nee Raia) Murphy. He passed away July 20, 2021 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, surrounded by his family.

John is survived by his wife Linda (nee Ellsworth) Murphy; his sons Kevin, David and Tommy; his step-son Steven (Abby) Meehan; his grandchildren Tess and Finn; his siblings Bob (Laura) and Jim (Christine); fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

John grew up in Norridge, where he met and married the love of his life. John's pride and joy was his family. He did not miss one football, soccer, or volleyball match as his boys were growing up. He was also fiercely proud of his grandchildren and would show their pictures to anyone who would look.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed boating with the family, golfing, fishing, and hanging with friends at Arlington Park Racecourse. John was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor (especially adored by the neighborhood kids), and co-worker we could ever ask for.

John was the most kind, selfless, gentle, and generous soul and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Visitation Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Monday, July 26, 2021 from 9:00 AM Until Time of Prayers 10:15 AM at Glueckert Funeral Home to Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S. Mitchell Ave., Arlington Heights for Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
