

John P. Weber, 79 of Chicago was born on September 10, 1945 in Chicago to the late Peter and Ruth (nee Krien) Weber and passed away on May, 08, 2025. John was the dear brother of Carol Wells – Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Peter (Christine) Weber – Arlington Heights, IL; fond uncle to Scott Wells – Albuquerque, New Mexico, Susan (Wells) Hart – Georgetown, Texas, Jennifer (Chad) Scoggins – Arlington Heights, IL, Emelie Scoggins – Arlington Heights, IL, Benjamin Scoggins – Arlington Heights, IL, Matthew (Maria) Weber – Arlington Heights, IL and his grand nephew Andrew Weber. He will be missed dearly.
John attended Lane Technical High School in Chicago. After high school John served in the US Army at West Point, New York as a tuba player for the West Point Military Band.
After his time with the army John went on to attend Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University where he obtained his bachelor of Science in Music Education. From there he went on to obtain his Master of Science in Music Education at Vandercook College in Chicago, IL.
John went on to teach at Harvey K - 12 school district in Harvey, IL where he served as the concert and jazz band director for 30 years. During his time there he won numerous awards for his concert and jazz band including the Band Excellence award. Apart from awards he got the opportunity to take his school band to many places like Chicago, Atlanta Georgia, Orlando Florida and even Moscow.
As a performer himself, John and his tuba traveled extensively with various bands touring Europe and the States. He got the opportunity to play at the Lyric Opera and other groups throughout Chicagoland and in Indiana. John was also a member of the United Serpents club that was based in South Carolina
Music was always a big part of John's life, and even when he wasn't playing he enjoyed collecting an assortment of bass musical instruments.
When he wasn't playing music John also enjoyed the outdoors and considered himself an outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping and canoe travels throughout the States and Canada
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a contribution be made to a charity of your choice in John's name.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 14 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the funeral home. The funeral service will follow at Glueckert Funeral Home starting at 10:00 AM. Following the service interment will be at Eden Memorial Park, Schiller Park, IL 60176.
