Love Ya Always
Since her youth Joyce often used these three words. They were words that came to her as easily as breathing and they were words that she always put feeling into. When she said them, you knew that she wasn’t just talking, she was expressing a fundamental emotion. Joyce Pauline Lindquist, February 3,1949 - March 1, 2023, of Hoffman Estates, IL, beloved daughter of the late Edna Lindquist and the late Lloyd Lindquist; dearest sister of Lloyd II (Karen), Carole (Garrel) Behrends, Glen, Paul, Lars (the late Christine), Jan Walter and the late Sharon (James) Erickson; cherished aunt of 22, great aunt of 21 and many special relatives, loved ones, co-workers and friends will forever miss her and the indelible role she played in their lives.
Joyce grew up in Melrose Park where she attended Proviso East High School. Afterward, she attended college at Southern Illinois University and obtained a BA in Education. In August 1975 Joyce opened her own State Farm office on Michigan Avenue as an insurance agent, JP Lindquist. Many remember her as JP Lindquist. JP trailblazed as the second independent female agent working for State Farm. JP devoted 47 years to State Farm and during that time she showed her kindness through her dedication and thoughtfulness. She always looked out for everyone that worked for her and their families, and she wrote personal greeting cards to her customers to keep up on how they were doing.
One of the things that made JP special was JP always remembered. Despite an ever-growing extended family, she never forgot the birthdays of her many nieces, nephews, brothers or sisters. JP remembered names, faces and details about everyone whom she met. It wasn’t just that she remembered, but how she acted on that remembrance with care and love. Her nieces and nephews all have stories about the many times and ways she showed her love through a deep and unending generosity. JP would start thinking about family and the next thing they knew they would receive a gift – new clothes, shoes, a winter coat or a package sent to them while they were away at college. What she sent didn’t matter nearly as much as what the gift said: I remember “Love Ya Always.”
JP was an accomplished artist, painting mainly in oils. She loved traveling to visit friends and to explore new places. JP knew French and Spanish. She learned to tap dance, bowl, water ski, snow ski, and roller blade.
We are grateful JP was always in our lives. We Love Ya Always.
