Karen Braun was born on February 15, 1951 in Cleveland, OH, to Paul and Lucille (nee Heifner) Messer. She died Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in Arlington Heights.
She grew up in Mt. Prospect and graduated from Prospect High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. When her children were younger, Karen was very active in the PTA and other school activities. She was a Girl Scout leader and gave freely of her time in many other organizations. Karen enjoyed reading, crocheting, puzzles, gardening, and going on vacation with family and friends. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was loved by all.
Karen is survived by her husband of 48 years, Larry Braun, whom she married August 4, 1973 in Mt. Prospect; children, Justin (Tracy) Braun of Cedarburg, WI and Lindsay (Adam) Johnson of Mt. Prospect; grandchildren, Cooper, Riley and Adeline Braun and Ella, Delaney and Reese Johnson; sister, Nanci Lorenz; sister-in-law, Linda (the late James) Troestler, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 10, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
