Kathleen C. Hastings

Kathleen (Kay) Hastings, 90, a beloved wife and loving mother, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024. Born in Chicago to Michael and Agnes Larkin, she devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, cherished grandchildren and all who were blessed to have known her.

After a short time in the business world, Kay met the love of her life, Sean, at an Irish benefit dance, a treasured memory that marked the beginning of sixty-one loving years of marriage. Sean and Kay enjoyed spending time at community gatherings at Chicago Gaelic Park in the early years. She was known for her welcoming spirit and knack for hosting large family gatherings that brought everyone together. Her home was a place of joy, laughter, and love.

In her later years, Kay enjoyed spending winters in Florida with Sean, walking the beach for seashells and welcoming visitors. She was fond of her “grand-pups” and often reminisced about rescuing her own dog, Bingo, as a teenager.

Kay is survived by her loving children James, John (Joan), Brian (Mary Kay), Sheila and Colleen (Mike); fond daughter-in-law Mary; her grandchildren Amy (Aaron), Megan (Michael), Kate (Billy), Sean, Ryan (Maddie), Erin, Tara, Michael, Mallory (Nick), Kelsey, Rachel, Nick, Alana and Callen; her great-grandchild Millie; and was loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Sean, beloved son Kevin, and dear sisters Margaret and Evelyn.

Visitation 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, August 5, 2024 at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. A private burial service will be held the following day.
