

Leo was a talented chemist, who was employed by Stepan Company for over 40 years. His scientific research contributed to multiple patents and received recognition for innovative techniques which turned byproducts into useful materials. In his free time Leo enjoyed the outdoors, birdwatching and cloud spotting. He was a skilled precision target shooter, occasionally entering league competitions. When he was indoors, he was an avid reader, a savvy investor, and solver of challenging cross-word puzzles.
Leo is survived by his wife Sue (nee Vaughan) Hickey; his sons Tim (Stefanie) and Kevin (Nichole) and by his siblings Patricia (Ron) Fretts, James (Hazel) Hickey and Dennis (Pat Lykins) Hickey and by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation Friday, April 20, 2018 from 4:00 PM until the time of memorial service at 7:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment private.
