She is survived by her husband Wayne Maher, whom she married on March 11, 1978. Dear mother of George Sliwa, Kimberly Sliwa and Sean (Ann) Maher. Grandmother of Tyler Sliwa, Hailey Sliwa, William Maher, and Thomas Maher. Survived by her siblings Robert (the late Nancy) Bukowski, Carol (Jerry) Pocztowski. Dear aunt to Cyndi (Ray) Cooley, Daniel (Laura) Pepke, Nicole Pepke; Joseph (Shaina) Pocztowski. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Carleen Sliwa, along with many more extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Barbara (Daniel) Pepke.
Her first son George was born in 1968 and her daughter Kimberly was born in 1970. In 1976, Peggy met Wayne Maher, and they wed in 1978. Sean was born in 1980. You could just tell she was born to be a mother. She loved helping her children with whatever they needed, from school work to science projects, Halloween costumes, attending school functions and just giving them unconditional love. She had 4 beautiful grandchildren. Whether her grandchildren called her Grmama or Grandma, she adored them and would do anything to make them happy. She always filled her home with love, warmth and kindness. She was kind to everyone.
She had a very close family. She loved Canasta nights with her siblings and the many NYE parties. Also, let’s not forget the many parties in her brother Bob’s basement, and the family Christmas Eve parties she hosted that everyone still talks about to this day. What great memories.
She worked at various locations for over 30 years as a waitress, but ended up at Bakers Square for the majority of time. She retired in 2009, when she selflessly decided to help raise her granddaughter Hailey.
Peggy was always devoted to her entire family. She had a great sense of humor and just wanted to make everyone happy. She was a great cook. We will miss her morning French toast and our holiday dinners together. She made the best ham at Christmas. Later in life, she liked to relax using her coloring app on her cell phone, along with playing her games. She loved listening to the Beatles and watching her watching her daytime soap opera, General Hospital.
We will miss her more than she knows.
