Mark E. Piepenbrink, formerly of Mundelein, IL was born on August 13, 1953, in Cook County Illinois, to Edwin and Mildred (nee Lutz) Piepenbrink. He died Friday, October 22, 2021, at Halifax Hospice Ormond Beach Care Center, after a heroic fight with pancreatic cancer in Ormand Beach, Florida.
After completing his Bachelor of Science in accounting at Northern Illinois University, Mark had a long career as a CPA. Companies he has been employed with include Walgreens, Peat, Marwick, Mitchell. Later he was employed at Etymotic Research of Elk Grove Village for over 18 years where he worked his way from Controller to CEO of the company prior to retiring. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mark was an avid golfer and played in a league at Makray Memorial Golf Club for many years and also enjoyed bowling in leagues at Beverly Lanes and Hoffman Lanes. He took pleasure in being outdoors, especially swimming, and landscaping around his homes, and was a talented handyman. Mark’s indoor past times included puzzles, sudoku, video slots, and card games with family and friends. He was a passionate fan of the Chicago Bears and cheered for the Cubs.
Mark is survived by his wife, Donna (nee Nagy); his son, Brian Scott Piepenbrink; his siblings, Linda (Skip) Scheurman, Allen (Shirley), and Bruce (Tina) Piepenbrink; and his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Mark also loved and was loved by his five dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
