

Matilda "Mattie" B. KreuschOf Arlington HeightsMatilda B. Kreusch, 97, passed away peacefully April 5, 2016 at The Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Mattie was born January 18, 1919 in Owen, WI, the second of seven children of Caroline and Carl Bytof. After graduating as class valedictorian from Withee High School in 1936, she moved to Chicago. She graduated from Evanston Business College, then worked as a secretary for the American Medical Association.She married Frank "Bud" Kreusch on December 28, 1940. During World War II, while Bud was stationed in England, she worked in the office of Douglas Aircraft at what is now O"Hare Field.In 1951, they moved to Arlington Heights and lived there until 1979 when they retired to Seminole, FL. During the Florida years, she volunteered thousands of hours at Bay Pines VA Hospital.She is survived by her children: Fred (Bryna) Kreusch, Arlington Heights, IL; Char (Tom) Lundstedt, Sister Bay, WI; Doug Kreusch, Maple Grove, MN; and Tom Kreusch, Chandler, AZ; as well as her brothers Otto Bytof, Appleton, WI; and Clarence (Eve) Bytof, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA; brother-in-law, Mac (Margaret) McCarthy, Stuart, FL; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by Frank "Bud" Kreusch, her husband of 55 years; her brothers Harry and Lester Bytof; and sisters Olga Gorkos and Violet McCarthy.A memorial gathering will be held, 7:00 pm, Friday, April 29, 2016 at The Lutheran Home Chapel, 800 W.
