Peter was born on November 14, 1952, at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL and grew up in Deerfield, IL. Pete attended the Seminary for four years: three years of high school at Divine Word Seminary in East Troy, WI and one year at Divine Word College in Epworth, IA. He spent the remainder of his college years in Dubuque, IA, and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Loras College.
On October 31, 1981, Pete married the love of his life, Karen (Stercay) Dolder and together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and a lot of cooking. He was a proud and devoted father to Matthew Dolder (wife Jody), Andrea (Dolder) Rodriguez (husband Julian), and Bethany Dolder. The greatest joy in his life was becoming Papa to seven grandchildren: Caleigha, Zoe, Vivian, Olivia, Giselle, Gabrielle, and Jacob.
Pete was a huge sports fan. His favorite teams were the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls. He was also a big fan of the University of Illinois basketball team, where his son attended school. He helped coach his kids’ sports teams and spent many years coaching softball in Schaumburg.
Pete had a green thumb and loved to garden. He grew an abundance of fruit and vegetables each year and his tomatoes were the best. Pete had the innate ability to bring people together over food and would often be the designated chef for any party he attended. He was most famous for his ribs but never failed to impress with anything on the grill or Italian dishes. Pete demonstrated his love for others through his cooking and making sure everyone was well-fed.
Pete had a successful career in sales. He was also very active in the Catholic Church. He found immense joy as a Minister of Care and cherished the years he spent delivering prayers and Communion at Friendship Village.
Pete was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence Dolder III, father Lawrence Dolder JR, and mother Virginia Dolder (Quick). He is survived by his siblings Lizbeth (Dolder) Henning, Michael Dolder, Mary (Dolder) McKay, Kathy Dolder, and Ginny (Dolder) Galphin. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
