Rita D. O'Donnell

It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Rita D. O'Donnell, 95 of Rolling Meadows, who departed this world peacefully, surrounded by three of her children (Kathy, Patti and David).

Rita was the cherished wife of the late Richard O'Donnell, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built a legacy rooted in faith, family, and kindness.

She was the proud and loving mother of seven children: Michael (Carole) O'Donnell, Kathy (Danny) Burns, Bill (Mary) O'Donnell, Rick (Deb) O'Donnell, Patti O'Donnell, John (Mary Ann) O'Donnell and David (Sara) O'Donnell. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love extended to her 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Additionally, Rita was a tremendous sister to two brothers: the late Raymond Kraft and Phil (Carol) Kraft, whom she loved dearly.

Rita’s life was a testament to faith, family and grace. She was a guiding light to her family and a friend to all who knew her. Her love for reading was only surpassed by her love and devotion to her very large family.

She will be remembered for her warm smile, her gentle wisdom, and the strength with which she lived her life. Though she has left this world, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 9th, 2025 from Noon to 3pm at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 East Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights IL 60004. Prayers will be said on Friday at 3pm at the funeral home.

A celebration of Rita’s life will be held in the coming days, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she led.
