Robert E. Beck

Of Arlington Heights

Robert E. Beck was born July 5, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI to Earl and Margaret (nee Peter) Beck. He died February 20, 2024 at his home in Arlington Heights.

In 1970, Bob graduated from the university of Wisconsin, Madison with a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics. After graduation he worked for Pioneer Engineering and then Harza Engineering before starting a business software company (Beck Systems) with his friend Ron Schoenberger. This innovative company produced drafting related software and developed 2 important patents.

He was a man of many talents, always working on projects, from engineering and endless tinkering, to computer programming, knitting, and performing in plays with his youngest daughter. Bob also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending summers at the lake house.

Bob had an unwavering devotion to his family and those around him. He was a faithful person and never stopped praying for his family and friends. Through thick and thin, he saw the best in everyone and supported his family and others in whatever way he thought best. His determination to smooth life’s rough path might not have been fully appreciated at the time but is now admired and will be sorely missed.

Bob is survived by his children Maria Keeney, Lewis Beck, Catie Beck and Catherine Rodriguez; his grandchildren Alexandra, Elijah, Raven, Christina and his great granddaughter Asiana; his brothers Donald (Alice) Beck and David (Barbara) Beck.

He is preceded in death by his wife Maureen Beck and by his parents.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Monday, February 26, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment private.
