Robert W. Nelson was born on February 24, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois to Willard and Margaret (nee Franke) Nelson. He died Monday, January 8, 2018, at Northwest Community Hospital - JourneyCare Hospice, Arlington Heights.

Mr. Nelson worked for Pure Oil Company for over 20 years before he retired. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, Air Wing. Robert loved traveling to National Parks and enjoyed attending the Chicago Symphony and the Art Institute.

Robert is survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Olson, and Amanda Hughes; his great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Tristen, Kayleigh, Caden, Makayla, and Christina; his sister Janet (John) Marsala.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Nelson; his children Steven Nelson and Christine Dehlin; and his parents.

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Interment private.
